DCCCA operates Elm Acres, a residential youth program for boys and girls ages 12 – 18, in Pittsburg, KS. The purpose of the program is to improve the mental and social adjustment of the youth. The primary goal is to offer mental and behavioral health services and to teach youth appropriate skills that will allow them to transition successfully back to their homes and their communities. Our program focuses on:
- Daily Living Services and Behavior Management
- Cognitive Skill Building and Core Education
- Continuum of Services
In addition to the Residential Program services provided, professional counseling services are arranged for youth who are in need of individual mental health counseling, a drug and alcohol evaluation, or more intensive substance use counseling.
We believe strongly in utilizing cognitive behavioral approaches to facilitate change and support the youth in our care. The residents’ progress is evaluated by tracking outcomes and improvements in their behavior, academics, social, and life skills.
