Organizational Description

The launch of Douglas County Citizens Committee on Alcoholism in the summer of 1974, marked the beginning of substance abuse treatment and prevention programs in Lawrence. After becoming a 501 (c)(3) corporation, the agency's two paid staff members set out to notify the Lawrence community of the resources available.

Over the next 15 years, the agency's scope of programs and services expanded significantly. Other Kansas counties gained interest and the agency's resources quickly spread to other communities. To reflect growth, the agency officially changed its name to DCCCA, Inc. in 1989.

After more than 35 years of service, DCCCA, Inc. has approximately 350 employees in over 25 locations throughout the State of Kansas.
