We believe that chemical dependency and
addiction are chronic diseases that are treatable, and that the
progression of the disease can be influenced by and through
treatment.

We believe that no one entity has all the
necessary resources and expertise to respond adequately to the needs
of a parent who is addicted, as well as the needs of his or her
child.
We are committed to collaborating with all
necessary community resources to effectively address a family’s
need.

Women’s
Recovery Center-Kansas City (WRC), a program of DCCCA, Inc., is the newest
treatment program in Kansas that specialize in services to
women,
pregnant women and
women with children.
WRC
offers a continuum of outpatient alcohol and drug treatment
specifically designed to meet their unique needs, including
assessment and referral, outpatient, and intensive outpatient
services. Intervention
focuses on a woman’s individual challenges, using proven, evidenced
based strategies including motivational interviewing, cognitive
behavioral therapy and Twelve Step programs.
DCCCA developed WRC-Kansas
City to impact the growing number of children being removed to
foster care, due to parental substance use.
Our extensive experience working to preserve at risk families
and treat women substance users guided the development of a program
that removes access barriers, comprehensively assesses and treats
the family unit, and offers the option to participate in treatment
in an environment which is most comfortable for the woman – her
home. While traditional
office based individual and group counseling is available, the
majority of treatment interventions occur in home and community
settings.
Women’s
treatment needs extend beyond abstaining from alcohol and drug use,
and WRC’s expanded service components help reduce barriers to long
term recovery. Parenting
skills training, mental health counseling, health and wellness
services, case management support to access employment and safe
housing, and referrals for domestic violence intervention are just a
few of the unique offerings.
For children, WRC facilitates health, educational,
developmental, and behavioral health assessments, helping their
mothers’ access and engage in appropriate community resources.
Women’s Recovery Center-Kansas City offers
individual and group counseling, including nine hours of intensive
treatment services weekly for those women who require a higher level
of substance use education and intervention.
Connections to Twelve Step, faith based and other naturally
occurring community groups are facilitated to expand a woman’s
network of recovery-focused support.
Each WRC staff is a licensed, master’s level
behavioral health professional and credentialed alcohol and drug
abuse counselor.
Family Services
Addiction is a family disease. Women and their children will need the support of family as they return to the community to continue their recovery journey. WRC family and multi-family therapy, as well as referral to community support groups, to help loved ones understand how addiction has impacted them.
