Opioids are a class of drugs that include prescription pain relievers such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, morphine, fentanyl and others, but opioids can also be illicitly manufactured like heroin and fentanyl. While fentanyl can be prescribed for a legitimate health need, it can also be illicitly manufactured. Opioids are a great tool when used as prescribed but they can have negative effects when used incorrectly.

When prescribed an opioid, it is important to ask your doctor or pharmacist any questions you may have about the medication.
