Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges. Mental Health First Aiders are trained to be a nonjudgmental listening ear. Through reassurance, support and resources, Mental Health First Aiders talk with people experiencing mental health and substance use challenges and help shine a light on a path forward.

Learn how to spark hope in others! Join more than 2.6 million Americans nationwide who have been trained to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge. Mental Health First Aid teaches participants a five-step action plan (ALGEE) to support someone developing signs and symptoms of a mental illness or experiencing a variety of crises. Through this internationally renowned and evidence-based training, participants earn a three-year certification. Whether you are supporting someone in a professional or personal capacity, the skills you learn through Mental Health First Aid will help you effectively encourage mental wellness and can save a life.
