Douglas County Community Foundation awards DCCCA

DCCCA is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Douglas County Community Foundation to provide support for the Douglas County Recovery Today Project. This project will offer limited financial support for DCCCA treatment clients to remove barriers that might otherwise prevent them from obtaining safe housing, employment and transportation.

“Studies indicate that clients have a greater likelihood of success in their recovery journey when basic needs are met,” DCCCA CEO Lori Alvarado said. “We are very appreciative of this grant from the Douglas County Community Foundation. This support will provide an immediate need for clients in recovery and allow them to have a greater opportunity for sustained sobriety.”

Beginning a life in recovery often means addressing tangible barriers that were products of chronic substance use. The Recovery Today Project will require clients to complete a brief application, remain actively engaged in treatment and have no other financial means to address the barriers. Examples of funded items include apartment deposit, car repair, late utility bills requiring payment to have utilities reinstated and activities associated with starting a new job. The Recovery Today Project will be managed with recommendations from the client’s therapist and treatment team.
