Peer Support Specialists serve an integral role in clients’ substance use disorder recovery. Specifically, Peers engage with clients arriving in the Emergency Department who may need access to social detox services, by describing their role as a Peer, what social detox is, and what to expect. Peers are advocates for clients; they collaborate with community partners, conduct social detox screenings, determine best placement for services, and transport clients to social detox locations. We are looking for candidates with at least two years of demonstrated personal recovery experience. Successful candidates are compassionate, are self-motivated, gauge risk, and can establish positive working relationships with community partners.
