Occupant Protection Observational Surveys (OPOS)

Seasonal Safety Belt Observers

Assigned Locations vary across the State of Kansas, including Douglas, Johnson, Shawnee, Finney, Kearny, Seward, Sumner, Cowley, Crawford, Cherokee, Thomas, Ellis, Gray, Sedgwick, Riley, Chase, Geary as well as other Kansas counties.

 Surveys will be conducted from February through mid-May,

 then again from June through August 31, 2012

Position Overview

  • Observes and surveys seatbelt/occupant safety usage in assigned area

  • Manages the data collection schedule for the assigned area within survey guidelines

  • Returns completed data and other survey materials in a timely manner to the Data Collections Manager

Requirements include

  • Must be able to collect data at a reliability rate of at least 80% in all categories

  • Requires a high school diploma or General Education Degree

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record

  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening

Women’s Recovery Center

Substance Abuse Counselor: Temporary Position

Women's Recovery Center-Kansas City is a unique outpatient treatment program for women, specializing in services for pregnant women and women with dependent children. 

Deadline: 2/01/2012

Position Overview

  • Facilitate substance use disorder assessment and treatment services for women

  • Provide some services in the client's home and community

  • Assist clients and their children in accessing community services

  • Assist clients in developing treatment and recovery plans

  • Assist clients in goal setting and problem solving

  • Flexible schedule may include some evenings and Saturday days

Requirements Include

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services is required, with a Master's degree preferred

  • Must be a Licensed Addictions Counselor or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor

  • BSRB License at the Master’s level is preferred

  • Prior work in addictions prevention or treatment is preferred

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record

  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening
